PREFACE

As we see our Australian PM declaring himself an engineer (a social one, a political one, a constitutional one, a drafting board for the people one), and finding he has picked up from the tones and overtones of his carefully arranged 20/20 meeting, with its various directive chairpersons and small time for individual utterance and alleged failure to report all ideas, we are looking down the mundane barrel.

Our corner of the world, it seems,  is about to be subjected to the spiritual stresses and strains in the interests of what is moulded one way or another into some kind of homogeneity where the people make noises and politicians make sometimes similar, sometimes parallel, but always vaster ones, and the result is engineering. We have heard of bridges being engineered, with solemn thought, great creativity and enormous facility and functionality, but when men try to engineer their own kind, they are mere baggage unless their vision is true and focussed on the Engineer who made them. Otherwise, their black whole merely draws in light and gives out none (Isaiah 8:20, John 8:12, 9:4).

But what is in view for this land ? Much may be good, but the power and purpose recently exhibited in our so famous 20/20 meeting,  are not evidencing less than man over man as the mandate for (this part of)  mankind. And what is man! (cf. Isaiah 2:22). His only greatness is in his origin, and at that, if he has left Him who made him, his confusion is ultimate, his rebellion ruinous, and his tender mercies, atrocities in the making. He is hit in the last 150 years so often for his star-gazing follies, that one wonders why he does not learn. It is because he CANNOT learn lessons when the teacher is removed by secular consent, or religious multiplicities and plasticities, mere mouthpieces for desire, unvalidated, unverified, unholy (cf. Luke 19:42ff., Romans 1:17ff. and see The Meaning of Liberty and the Message of Remedy).

One thing man seems entirely incapable of learning as a race. It is this. When you travel somewhere new, the DIRECTION is more important even than the dynamic!

Plans then for now for here ? We bridge the gap between the rich and the poor by making all pay for some kind of homogenised early education program, instead of adapting what is here to what is needed on a case to case basis, and so the Platonic universe opens up. The State is making you PAY for what it wants, ITS type of supervisors (quasi-parents), its type of ideological context for them (a massif on the mountains as shown already in the teaching update Class noted, where various things are defined into and out of social existence with a free hand).

Those who want to bring up their own very young children, instead of using the one stop all-inclusive duty-free shop,  can pay for those who do not, and so financial pressures can increase on those who do NOT desire the State to be the Parent in General for their children, until the parental desire becomes not only a dream, as it is already for many, but comes further towards being a fantasy. To the extent it comes, it is State-induced. Caesar knows best.

Let us revisit the sermon which dealt with a prototype situation.  Here is the relevant excerpt (slightly adapted for our present purpose):

Nor are such things limited to any one race. Thus in a recent class for renewal of Teacher Registration, one was told that one should have NO emotions while finding out more from children of any abuse (emotional, physical, verbal) they may have claimed they were suffering, and simply to BELIEVE them in order to get more story. Thus truth is sacrificed to social manipulation, and man is to become the zombi servant of those 'experts' at least normatively exposed in their professional studies, to conditioning by materialism.


What new experts this folly is therefore likely to produce, and what results! Yet truth has a certain sanctity and inviolability, not subject to professional programmatics. Moreover ‘love rejoices in the truth.’ Meanwhile, ever rising statistics attest the result of the spiritual drought of the word of God, not as a poem, but a matter rigorously to be performed.

The STATE is here by definition the ONLY authority in view for the hearing, consideration and application of ideas, ideology and ethics to a case. Theirs is the final phase and the intrusive norm for every consideration, and their experts are to have the direction of protection for all in every case, whether pastor or doctor be involved, or nurse or teacher. Discretion for the protection of school or church, child or parent or other is theirs alone. Thus, to take a case with children, a noted liar is to be given the same credence as one whose truth credentials are impeccable. Others, not in such touch, must decide from a distance. The State is the repository of morals, ethics, discretion and knowledge, from afar. Like guided missiles, its authorities will be propelled by humanistic, relativistic surrealism (cf. SMR Ch. 3).

This can readily occur, if the Rudd idea of using the rudder to make this unclassic Commonwealth institution for early years of education should become a fact, and likewise this one-stop paradigm of multiple services RUN on the new lines of the desired REPUBLIC should arise from the dust. It is the more NOVEL in this, that there is likewise being sought, a Bill of Rights, which can eliminate such petty things as liberty and thus diversity, while the knowledgeable and the directors can apply the prods from their philosophic extremes as will. Thus readily can there come that alienated, dictatorial social and increasingly all-inclusive power that pulses. Consider the principles that surge.  See and ponder the authoritarian, egalitarian enforcement of COMMUNITY SAYS. It is an adult form of SIMON SAYS, the child's game for automata, amusing perhaps in irony, perilous in citizen performance!

This becomes the more disastrous as what has helped MAKE this country a thing of great desire for many nations, becomes swept away with ideas, limited, politically radical, ethically arising from the void, imposed by a crooning commonwealth on temporary leave from its critical and assessive senses. Whether in Britain with Blair, the USA as a possible parallel with NEWNESS and CHANGE, not entirely specified, or Australia, the movement is similar. Something else, something different, some escape hatch, something yet to be discovered. You find out when you put the people in and learn anew why the Hitlers and Mussolinis, the Mugabes ever got in, in the first place.

Ah! There was SOMETHING NEW. It removed the imperfect, and was ready for the perfect, such as now blooms in Zimbabwe for example. At the time when Mugabe was drafted, we hear that a prominent politician who was by no means African, sought to forward the action. The results linger. The vision fades. The nation collapses, though not the rulers thereof...

 

Newness and power, political principles and hope, these are as good a foundation as sand, any day. This is by no means to condemn some novelties, but not erratic, traumatic ones which dispense with the past like a memory-loss drug, whatever that past might be and institute a present with power for a future like Topsy, toppling this and that, and growing ungainly mainly.

Indeed, before PM Howard was given leave to leave the vast wealth accrued after eliminating for the nation a huge deficit, over the years of his incumbency, there was investigation and recommendation. It was found that a pitifully small awareness of Australian history, bases of values and accomplishments was present, whereas a considerable time was spent in a mass of the Schools of the nation, on endless current and contemporary ideological preoccupations. This was found to be replacing the objective gaining of actual knowledge in numerous areas, such as was likely to stimulate fact-girt, knowledgeable horizon-making and spur to some extent, realistic vision. To understand the past is an incremental gain, in considering the future.

By no means is this to approve all that PM Howard did, though many things helped to bring people to their senses in some areas, nor is it as such to speak politics per se: it IS to note that whatever the Party involved, there is a movement to change which whether in court cases, or new courts, or new education or new principles, or the removal of old ones, has one basic trend.

It is to change in an unknown direction where the concept of change is as least as significant as the questions: FROM what and why ? and TO what and why ? In this, it is not primarily technical matters, but principles which matter.

It becomes necessary to realise that Jesus Christ, the only unsullied politician, yes and infinitely more than a politician, being sinless in action and superb in truth, powerful in life in all its phases and a practitioner without loss of all He recommended, covering past, present and future in His never faulted programs, accurate in diagnosis, resplendent in opportunity-creation, the best covered in history, is here not only relevant but crucially in view in these things.

Relevant ? you may ask. How ?

It is away from HIS premisses, propositions, power and practice that the change is occurring, has occurred and will occur more and more. MAN is becoming the centre of morals, founded on himself alone, viewed as a foundling in the philosophies of folly which rule the minds of many (cf. SMR Chs.   3, 10). In Australia, much in focus is movement from the Constitution's Almighty God (in its preamble), to the people as determinants: and this, it is only an infinite step. Why worry ? Such is contemporary wisdom.

Australian has been greatly blessed, and in pursuit of its initial biblical principles in its foundation from Britain (ostensibly a Christian nation), it has in many things done well. Now for some years it has performed a desperate rearguard, to re-establish pagan follies, irrational modes and ethical amorality (cf. News 19). More and more rights are to be given to biblical wrongs. Sodom and Gomorrah might almost feel shame if they see what this land is promising to become, including some of the earlier churches, which become instruments of departure.

We remember amidst all this infelicity, feverish philosophical substitute for truth, passions for merely preferred paths and deferred morality, that THIS WORLD is NOT something for which Christ told us to pray.

It is the people in it who are His concern.

This world is to be banished (Isaiah 51:6, II Peter 3, Matthew 24:35), its works burnt up with their evils. It is unfit to live. It has had a long innings of millenia, and although many times many in it, even nations have veered or even come to the point of honouring the God of creation and redemption, yet its contemporary move is to endless war, subtlety, programmings from corrupt philosophy, often corruptive men, people who like Mugabe, appear more interested in condemning those who did not please them, than pleasing with goodness,  those whom ostensibly they serve.

False gods flit in and out of the world like visitors from foreign lands, equipped with prestigious embassies, some with atomic bombs in the basement.

The world is going. It is not fit to provide life. People are coming, in millions, convicted, converted and cleansed, challenged, changed, redeemed, regenerated. The crisis is merely the end of the examination for this earth; and much is the harvest to be gained (cf. Matthew 2:12, 13:30, 24:31). The Gospel of the grace of God persists like lawn amid the weeds, in an aridity caused by constant lack of water, as the outpouring of the Spirit of God is undesired. It is not however without eternal effects, in the hearts, lives and destiny of many.

In this volume, the distinction of what GOD is providing, this WORLD is giving and getting and what is for PEOPLE who care for their Creator and seek His word, face, will and word, is crucial.

At this point, Chs. 1 and 3 are completed.
