PREFACE

Events ARE galloping. They surge, they writhe, they contrive, they lapse, they react, they intone, they moan; their virtues lag, their morality mutters, but their end looms. It is not for nothing that patience has been invented. It has its end. The horse, galloping,  charges through the wilderness of mannerless wastes, faithless self-serving in countries and men, where the children are educated to match the mis-match of follies which are served as suitable by world leaders and their bureaucratic servants, and the race, like lemmings, seeks only the cliff, the ocean and death.

"Seek" - that is not the conscious motive in many. It is, however,  the eventuation to which such conduct leads. In fact, in Revelation you find various horses signifying varied results and phases as history comes to her abrupt halt in Revelation 19, when the WORD OF GOD, mounted on white horse, irresistibly arrives, when judgment sets in, and later in Revelation 20, when it … sits.

The FACE of the rider is the face of the LORD. It is He who by His own counsel ordains what is to come to pass. It is not without awareness of all the ingredients, and it is without lapse; but it enables all things to find their place, including the place of disgrace, as the ultimacy of judgment awaits, like a final curtain call, where there is not only bowing, but shame. (Cf. Predestination and Freewill, Highway to Hell, Repent or Perish Ch. 5, Joyful Jottings Ch. 9, Spiritual refreshings for the Digital Millenium 15).

So many are absorbed in these events; but it is the rider who matters.
It is His face which matters.

That is the face battered and ripped, and it is a face which KNOWS mankind, better than we know our own selves. It has seen what it does to His love, and experienced what it thinks of His compassion; it has confounded the sceptics with its restoration, of His own body, as with the restoration of His called people, who, though they have broken the covenant and no longer have claim on His patience and grace, are nonetheless in His charge because of His promises to Abraham, Genesis 17, and in His concern as in Zechariah 12, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Micah and many prophets.

In this volume, we are looking at events with special emphasis on the END, on the face and place of the RIDER, and at the outset, we shall consider the overview, the perspectives of MICAH. This has special value in answering one of those assaults on the Jewish people not made with bombs or stones, not made with gas chambers or arsenic, but with words.

In this, they are depicted as revolutionaries, would-be world rulers, far too bad to be relatable at all the Biblical Israel of the past or to the promises of God. The secular Israel is made the criterion of the word of God, and its secular thoughts made as if they would debar the Israel of today, from any real realtionship to the Israel of ancient fame. It would remove them from their historic place, in the predictive prophecies, and citing real or imaginary sins, would consign them to some small place in the historical fulfilments, which are in fact Biblically predicted, for a CAREFULLY and CLEARLY defined Israel, with inveterate resolution!

Not thus, however,  can the word of God be treated. The events continue to roar, and the blood to soak the saddened soil, as inveterate malice continues, as if the sins of the Jews were unique in the contemporary world, and the patience they often show, were in some way, a vice. Such is this world.

To display the errors of such a position, the assault as cited, will be answered, in the context of the Biblical survey, specialising on Micah, in Chapter One.

It is not that such assaults are always intended as such, for when the truth is not received, delusion or confusion is virtually guaranteed (cf. II Thessalonians 2:10). When these things are duly done, and the errors explained, the reality of the word of God expressed, as it is indeed clear as it claims (Proverbs 8:8), the spate and rate of the race, the galloping events race, will be before us to explain in terms of the word of God, allowing readers to address their own lives and to refine understanding where alone it may be refined, by the side and in the sight of the word of God.

A word here, may be apt, on the operations in this respect of the Holy Spirit. It must be noted that it is His office to do many things, to illuminate, uncover, strengthen, bring near the Lord, convict of sin, righteousness and judgment; but it is the WORD of God which rules events. To this, NOTHING is added, NOTHING may be subtracted, in either the New or the Old Covenant, the Old duly merging in fulfilments and culminations, from shadow to substance as Hebrews puts it of the ceremonial and sacrificial, into the New as bud to bloom (Deuteronomy 4; 12; Matthew 5:17ff., John 14:21-23, Revelation 22; Repent or Perish Ch. 3, Barbs, Arrows and Balms 13).
The Spirit of God has indeed indited the word of God (I Cor. 2:9-13, I Peter 1:10-12, II Peter19-21), and God does not change His mind on His determinations, but as to His word, HE EXECUTES IT (Joel 2:11).

We have in past volumes often concentrated on beginnings, but now there is savour of the end. Now also must be time to scrutinise the FACE of the rider, as events scatter the wits of many people and nations, and to consider where it is all GOING.

First, however, as knowledge must precede all discourse if it is to be enlightened, at least knowledge of the text discussed - without which it is like discussing matter in a vacuum - we shall as noted, study Micah. This prophet is fascinating, but in turn is best understood as  a sweet dish, after the second course has been eaten. Thus we need, as in any document legally examined, and not less in one spiritually before us, to study the parallels and exposés to be found in others of the prophets, for no prophet is given in isolation, nor should any be taken so.

These two steps taken, we shall be in better training to focus on the GALLOPING EVENTS for which our generation is justly famous, and which, in the generation of the Messiah on earth, were made famous in advance, predictively. Ours it the FULFILMENT; theirs was the PREDICTION.
So do the squadrons of history partake, each in its place, of the overall scenario and the symphony of history, divinely ordained, defined and brought to culmination at the good pleasure of Almighty God, the ONE and ONLY God and ONLY Saviour, whose word has been chivvied and chastised for generations, but continues like the Messiah Himself, after His crucifixion, neither qualified nor crushed, though exposed to all, and exposing all.

His words and His works continue till the coda brings in the culmination, and foolish is the one who would contest with the Judge who made justice, or the Saviour who can cancel, but never condone, sin.
