A QUESTION OF
GIFTS,

is the result in this field ? Since obedience is blessed, understanding is
essential. In power and peace, God has His own way.

PREDESTINATION and FREEWILL -
This also appears in the form of a thesis of that
name, slightly revised and adapted for the Web, on which it was published in
1997. Presented to Melbourne University in 1964, it is now accompanied on the
Web by the Supplement, The Father of Freedom,
also presented in 1964. Both are referred to in The Shadow of a Mighty
Rock, and their presence on the Web therefore simplifies reference.
Physicists sometimes get tangled in
this field (cf. e.g. That Magnificent Rock,Ch.7, SMR pp. 418ff., 422Eff.), partly through inadequate world
views, and reductionist tendencies, and it all needs to be seen in an adequate
conspectus.
This predestination field is a distinctive Christian Apologetics
forte, showing what no other approach to truth can provide here: perfect
adequacy and internal harmony, in dealing with all the facets of related human
life, and history. Relevant inadequacies of autonomy, monism, voluntarism,
humanism, determinism, Arminianism, hidden 'gods' and reductionism are shown,
in passing. All the issues are handled in their full integrity and force:
possible since it is God who speaks in His word. It is God who made us who in
His word provides answer to every phase and facet of logical query, in
unblemished integrity, validity and consistency, the more notable in that the
failure of all else here, is notorious. Indeed, the conspectus shown from the
word of God has elements both necessary and unique for coverage of the elements
and harmony of components.
The superlative force, unmatched rationality
and comprehensiveness as well as the delicacy of the Biblical presentation is
examined in considerable detail: here as ever, the Bible is a priceless gem -
to be expected when it is from God, whose understanding is infinite. At last, no degraded, debilitated, wan and
weary reductionism!
